The owner of Sunwheel Design & Construction LLC is an engineer and a builder with a multifaceted background. We specialize in Septic Design and Perk Testing(Perc Test) statewide with a newer emphasis on sustainable home design/site layout and Green Contracting. We are located in Washington State and provide service to Skagit, Whatcom, Snohomish, and Island County.

Sunwheel Design specializes in site placement of homes on lots and acreage in order to maximize the natural interface and connectivity to the land. We also love to design sustainably. With respect to the house itself, this involves orientation for sun exposure (solar gain), shading, passive solar design, etc. The house size, thermal mass, location of windows, and building technique are also choices of considerable importance.
A substantial part of our business is the location of soils for the installation of a septic system. We do this for new construction and also in response to a failed septic system. The owner is very highly skilled at seeking out deeper and (usually coarser textured) soils for the client. We also are very experienced in the septic design field and design for long term performance. We also strive to choose septic designs that require the minimum amount of maintenance possible.
Since the septic design is usually the first thing a client should site with raw acreage before development, it follows that septic system placement has control over other aspects of site planning such as the placement of the house, well location, driveways, tree plantings and landscaping, gardens, etc. This then leads to our Site Plan Service and Solar, Sustainable, and “Green” residential home design. It pays to have a professional integrate all of these design elements into the design of your living space.
The other things that we do: Geo-technical site-work, “Green” construction and remodels, and Historic Building preservation/re-construction and other contractor oriented trades. Sunwheel Design & Construction, LLC is a licensed and bonded State of Washington General Contractor. We do remodel projects much like other contractors. We also have compiled a list of specialty sub-contractors that build in the “green” industry and have a known reputation.
